Instructions

  2. Mix the mashed potatoes, salt, and flour in a large bowl. 
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the potatoes bowl and stir.
  4. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg to the mixture, and mix thoroughly until a dough forms. 
  5. Place the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for 5 to 10 minutes until it is elastic and smooth.
  6. Put the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a moist cloth, and set aside in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Punch the dough down and place it on a floured surface. 
  8. Divide the dough into two equal portions and form each into a loaf.

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds 
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 beaten egg
