Tony & Jens
Looking for guilt-free pancakes without sacrificing the flavour? Look no further. Based in the heart of Belfast’s Lisburn Road, Tony & Jens offer an eclectic menu with a primary focus on vegetarian, vegan, gluten & dairy-free options. Don’t panic – Tony & Jen have a passion for pancakes, and their Instagram posts make us salivate. There’s a huge range of choice here, and even connoisseurs of the pancake will be impressed with the variety of toppings, including raspberries, chia seeds, brownie chunks and even peanut butter pie. This little eatery even has its very-own ‘Pancake of the Month’ – tasty business.
Wolfes Diner, Dundonald
Everyone knows that some of the tastiest pancakes can be found in the United States – lucky them, we guess. Fear not – Wolfes of Dundonald offer the next best thing, bringing a taste of the States to diners in Belfast and beyond. Conveniently located inside the Eastpoint Entertainment Village, Wolfes offer delicious breakfasts that both clog the arteries and warm the soul. Pancake Tuesday revellers should look towards Wolfes’ America Breakfast, which includes three American pancakes, bacon rashers, sausage, fried eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato, hash browns and last but not least, that sumptuous maple syrup. Check out their Instagram to kick start your appetite and book to avoid disappointment!
Pancake lovers are spoilt for choice here, with bustling restaurants found in Belfast’s Lisburn Road and in Carrickfergus on the city’s outskirts. Snackers from across the city flock to Springsteen’s for their pancakes, and it’s not hard to see why: prices are affordable, portions are plentiful and their range of milkshakes are famous in their own right. Breakfast is the most important of the day and Springsteen’s know how to do it right. You can even enjoy a range of delicious cocktails across the whole day – because who doesn’t love a boozy brunch?
Over recent years, General Merchants have rightly established themselves as brunch specialists, with homely eateries across Belfast and Newtownards. Whilst the menu boasts tasty classics like toasted brioche, artisan waffles and sugary French toast, pancake lovers will love the specials on offer. General Merchants strive to go that extra mile, and their buttermilk pancakes may well be the most irresistible pancakes on this list. We love their tomato & chilli pork sausage and black pudding crumb. Don’t just listen to what we say – taste this absolute delight for yourself and thank us later.
Harlem’s breakfasts tend to speak for themselves – maybe explaining why the cafe has become locally-celebrated in their Bedford Street premises opposite the historic Ulster Hall. Whilst the interior decor creates a feast for the eyes, we love their food. Call in and soak in the atmosphere – Harlem serves pancakes all day on Tuesday. Is it safe to say that Harlem Cafe is one of Belfast’s pancake kings? Yes, we think so. This is one of the busiest cafés in the area – so call ahead to secure your table.
