In this interview, we sit down with Mervyn Jones to learn about the importance of meeting buyers preparation, mistakes businesses make in buyer presentations as well as how training can elevate presentations to get your foot in the door with bug buyers and retail chains.
Mervyn set up Mervyn Jones and Associates in 2016 to work with Food and Drink Producers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Mervyn has spent over 30 years in Retail and Wholesale, initially in store management and then in Procurement.
Mervyn worked in buying for the Henderson Group and Nisa and then as a Buyer with Asda working on their Local Team in NI and Scotland. His experience in working on the Asda Supplier Development Programme led him to setting up his own business providing services and training to local Irish Companies.
Over the past 5 years he has provided account management services for a number of leading local companies including Mash Direct, Suki Tea, Connolly Meats, Frozzys and Maine Soft Drinks. He also delivers training and mentoring for Invest NI, Food NI and NIFDA.
Recent courses delivered have included the Invest NI Capability Programme which reached over 200 companies in 2020 / 2021. Mervyn is also delivering training and mentoring to the NI companies on the 2021 Grow with Aldi programme and the Lidl Kickstarter programme.
Mervyn’s speciality is preparing companies to present to a Buyer. He will walk you through the steps required to prepare and deliver a pitch to secure a listing. Preparation is the key to a successful pitch and he can provide you with the knowledge and tools to give you a competitive advantage.
